Today I am going to give you a comparison between AMD Radeon rx 590 vs gtx 1060 for gamers.
After 2 years of countless efforts by AMD, its finally beating Nvidia GTX 1060 a card at the mid-range price. RX 590 got popular as the previous GPU’s from AMD such as RX570 and RX580.
These two were great value cards and there were a lot of expectations from RX590. So AMD now offering RX590 for those who want to upgrade without spending too much money.
AMD Radeonrx 590 is basically incremental upgrade of its previous versions which are rx 570 and rx 580.
In the final results, based on multiple reviews, Polaris is still a strong architecture used by AMD, giving them a lead.
Polaris architecture is used in RX590 is not new as it is been used in The RX 580. It is a straight die-shrink of RX 580 and it provides more dark silicon between working on-die components.
One of the downsides AMD GPU’s always have heat dissipation issue in these modern semiconductor design. And based on reports RX 590 can generate quite a bit of it so, overclocking won’t work with the stock fans.

When comparing the clock speed, RX590 has increased its clock speed substantially compared to the previous RX580.
The RX 590 comes with a base clock of 1469MHz and a boost clock of 1545MHz, where RX 580 has 1257 / 1340 respectively.
In terms of memory bandwidth, it is unchanged from the RX 580, just like the previous card it has 8GB of GDDR5, 256-bit memory bus, 256GB/sec memory bandwidth, and 2000MHz memory speed.
Well, usually AMD offers the same performance when compared Nvidia GPU at the same price. And unfortunately, it is not the case.
According to the reports from “Official SEP” (Suggested Etail Price) is $280 for the RX 590, compared with $229 for the RX 580, a huge price bump.
But in reality, there are RX 580 cards been sold for just $200, making the GPU way more attractive considering the price. Don’t know if it will happen for RX590.
Although AMD has increased the RX590 price, it also gives reasonable performance. we recommend RX590 if you can’t afford GTX1070.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider | Avg 63 fps (Min 49 fps) | Avg 55 fps (Min 44 fps) |
In this 6 game, no doubt that RX590 is outperforming GTX1060 but it is hard to ignore Assassin Creed Odyssey result.
AMD Radeon RX 590 VS Nvidia GTX 1060: Power consumption and heat
There are different gamers, some care about the power consumption and other don’t. But there always will be a race for efficiency in GPU, whoever wins will have the lead.
Gamers who don’t care much about power consumption, heat, and nose would love the new RX590 because it is an overall leader considering its price, whether comparing its frame timing or raw frames per seconds.
But it is also recommended to use a case that has proper ventilation as RX590 will produce more heat compare to average GPU’s.
On top of all the gaming performance that RX590 will offer, just like Nvidia offers, you can select two of the three free games with the RX 590 offered by AMD, which including popular titles like Devil May Cry 5, The Division 2, and Resident Evil 2.
The three games will be available in 2019 so you can’t play them right now, but AMD promises to give these titles.
